Worthwile reads

Here’s a list of a few books that helped me gain perspective about life, my relationship with others, and myself.

I will update these from time to time.

  • An insightful and inspiring book to learn about the mechanism of letting go of the things you cannot control in life and focusing on what you can control. Easy to read and relate to, as usual with Mel Robbins.

  • Surrounded by Idiots by Thomas Erikson explains four main personality types: red, yellow, green, and blue, based on behavior and communication styles. He dives into the differences in communication between different types and how this can lead to misunderstandings. Some people might come across as idiots to you, not because they are but because they have a different way of interpreting and communicating than you.

  • The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks teaches that most of us unconsciously limit our success and happiness through our Upper Limit Problem. He explains how to break free from fear and self-sabotage in order to live in our Zone of Genius, where our passions and unique talents align. The read you need if you want to get out of your comfort zone to achieve greater fulfillment, creativity, and joy.

  • Scattered Minds by Gabor Maté explores the roots of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD), arguing it’s not just a genetic condition but deeply influenced by childhood environment and emotional development. The book blends science, personal stories, and compassion to help readers understand the challenges of ADD and offers guidance on healing, self-acceptance, and growth.

  • Florence Given invites us to reclaim joy and self-agency by rejecting the pressures of shame, perfectionism, and self-objectification shaped by patriarchal culture. She encourages women to treat their bodies as places to truly live in, to trust their intuition, and respect their desires, rather than waiting for an ideal future or perfect conditions.

  • Cal Newport’s Digital Minimalism is a philosophy and lifestyle that encourages intentional use of technology, focusing only on tools and apps that truly add value to your life. The goal is to reclaim time, attention, and mental clarity in a world saturated with distractions.

  • Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy is a productivity book that teaches tackling your most important or challenging task—the “frog”—first thing each day. By prioritizing high-impact work, overcoming procrastination, and focusing on what truly matters, you can increase efficiency, achieve goals faster, and reduce stress.

  • Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind by Dr. Georgia Ede explains how nutrition affects mental health, showing that whole, nutrient-dense foods can improve mood, focus, and cognitive function. She highlights the role of blood sugar and inflammation in brain health and advocates dietary changes to support it.
